E-mails are stuck in Outbox, How can I send them?

My sent E-mails are stuck in Outbox, How can I send them?

I looked up on Microsoft Help, but I did not know how to move them into
another folder. Please give detailed steps to move them, and to send them on.

I will appreciate your help to a novice.

I would first try to open the outbox and see what's in there.
Then open one up (double click) and ,manually choose the account from which
you want to send the mail.
Then on the top, there is send/receive. Press it. Look and see whether the
mail gets sent.

Alternatively, you may need to copy the email, and just send it again and
"erase" it from the outbox. However, before doing that, see whether you can
try to "send/receive" from the account that you think should work.

How big are they?

You have never dragged files around inside Windows Explorer?

How about right-clicking on an item to see what functions are available in
the context menu? Try it. Right-click on an e-mail and notice there is a
"Move to folder" function. What happens when you try to move an e-mail?

Depends on what the problem is. Could be the e-mail is too big. Could be
you send read receipts when the sender requests them (and which sometimes
get stuck in the Outbox but Outlook hides those e-mails).

Hello,

Outbox.dbx may be corrupt - transfer your messages in
outbox to another folder as the next step will reset your
outbox folder.

Go to your message store folder (Tools > Options > Maintenance > Store
Folder).

Close Outlook Express and delete outbox.dbx ('outbox' if you do not have
file extensions to show) in the Store folder using My Computer/Explorer.
Restart Outlook Express and a new Outbox.dbx should be recreated
automatically and you should be able to send mails properly

This is really a question for the Outlook Express newsgroup.

Have you checked with an intended recipient whether they are being
received? The point being they may be sent but not automatically moved
to the Sent Items folder! A simple check is to send an email to yourself
and observe what happens.

Whenever you send and receive an Outlook Express progress window
appears. If you click on the Details button in the Window a lower pane
is displayed, which contains an Errors tab. The messages there help
diagnose problems. To read the lower pane you need to stop the window
automatically closing before you have got details of the Error message.
You do this by single clicking on the acorn like icon in the bottom
right of the lower pane so that it changes to a miniature "chess piece
on it's side.

You have another response that suggests you may have a corrupted Outbox.
Although this could be, it is more likely to be a corrupted Sent Items
folder.

In Outlook Express place the cursor on Local Folders and select File,
Folder, New and name your new Folder AASent. Move any messages in your
Sent Items folder to AASent folder.

Next in Outlook Express ascertain the file path to the Store
Folder -Tools, Options, Maintenance, Store Folder. Place the cursor on
Local Folders and select File, Work Offline followed by File, Folder,
Compact All. Do not attempt to interupt or stop the process until it has
completed. Close Outlook Express when it has completed.

Now go to Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, View, Advanced Settings
and verify that the box before "Show hidden files and folders" is
checked and "Hide protected operating system files " is unchecked. You
may need to scroll down to see the second item. You should also make
certain that the box before "Hide extensions for known file types" is
not checked. Next in Windows Explorer make sure View, Details is
selected and then select View, Choose Details and check before Name,
Type, Total Size, and Free Space.

In Windows Explorer using the file path obtained earlier locate the
Outbox.dbx, and Sent Items.dbx and delete both. New files will be
automatically created when you next open Outlook Express.

Next in Outlook Express try sending an email to yourself. Please let us
know if this resolves your problem?

Two points:

1. You haven't told us what program you are using for e-mail. My guess
would be outlook express, but I don't want to make any assumptions.

2. Your question is not about Windows XP, and really doesn't belong
here. It would be much better for you to ask it in a newsgroup devoted
to outlook express (or whatever e-mail program you are using), since
that's where the experts in that e-mail program hang out, so your
chances of getting the help you need would be greatly improved.

When sending email then are sent then the mail is moved from the outbox
to the sent folder. I have seen where a client has never cleaned out the
sent folder and it becomes so full that no more mail can be moved fro
the outbox to the sent box.
