access denied

having just installed the sims expansion pack (superstar)
when i try to run the game, the message reads "access
denied"....Please login with administrator privilages and
try again." the thing is, i dont have to log in , its a
home pc and anybody help me?? thanks, Gary.

Enter "ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS" located in the "CONTROL PANEL"

Hold down the "SHIFT KEY" and "Right-Click" on "COMPUTER MANAGEMENT"

Select "Run As" from the menu.

Select "The Following User" radio button.

Ensure that "Administrator" is in the "Username"

Leave the password blank and press ok.
(if you get an error, you will need to get hold of the password, but I
am assuming that there isn't one)

In the left menu, open "Local Users and Groups" and click on the USERS
folder.

"Right-Click" on your user account (main window) and select "Properties"

Choose the "MEMBER OF" tab

Click "ADD"

Click "ADVANCED"

Click "FIND NOW"

Click "Administrators"

Click "OK"

Click "OK"

Click "OK"

Close "COMPUTER MANAGEMENT"

Log off and Log back on.


I am assuming that you weren't part of the Administrators group and that
someone else setup your PC. Usually they leave the admin password blank.

this option isnt available to me on windows pish xp...
what other options do i have?

Ok.
Then just "Log Off".

If "Log Off" is not available on the "Start Menu", press CTRL-ALT-DEL

Select "Log Off" from the "Shutdown" menu which appears on the "Windows
Task Manager"

Once You Have Logged Off, press CTRL-ALT-DEL two more times.

Clear the current username from the "Log In" dialog box and replace with
"Administrator"

Leave the password blank, click "OK".

Go to "Start" then "RUN" and type "lusrmgr.msc"

Follow the instructions below from where it says: "Click on the USERS
folder"
