I am using XP SP3 and I have a new printer connected to my desktop and I
want to share this printer with my laptop located in another room, I am
having a problem setting up the printer on my laptop. Using the add printer
option, I selected set up new printer and browse and the only thing that is
in the list is Microsoft Windows Network and no list of printers. What am I
doing wrong?

Did you actually setup the printer for sharing on the desktop?

finds no printers

I know you are having issues with
sharing the printer.

however, are you able to share
drives/disks?

in other words can you save files
from the laptop onto the desktop?

---------------------

you might try moving the laptop
in the same room with the desktop
until you can get it coordinated
with printer sharing.

another thing you might try is
to ensure that the laptop has
that printer driver installed as
well.

also, turn off your antivirals
and firewall to ensure they are
not hampering your efforts.

in any case, perhaps this link
might be helpful:

Check the desktop PC that this printer is connected to. Find which
"workgroup" this PC is a member of. Also check the firewall software
and allow the "File / Printer sharing" to pass thru it.
