I need to edit video files in the *.mts/m2ts file format. Windows Explorer
sees the files on one of the four Windows XP Pro/Home SP3 computers I own but
on none of the other three (on that one computer, the editing program (Magix
15) also sees the files and can edit them).
Let me explain that again. On one of the computers, when I put the finalized
DVD+RW minidisc with the *.m2ts files on it in the DVD drive, the files
appear when I click on that drive in Windows Explorer. When I put the same
DVD+RW minidisc in any of the other three computers, the files do not appear
when I click on the drive with the disc in Windows Explorer (I copied the
files to a full-size DVD+RW just to check that possibility but with the same
fail). Windows Explorer acts as if there's no disc in the drive, or it
displays the error message, "Disc is not formatted: Windows cannot read from
this disc. The disc might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is
not compatible with Windows."
I've installed various codec packages, all with mts, m2ts and h264 codes.
I've installed registry mods that are supposed to show m2t files in
thumbnails. I've installed different video players that are supposed to play
m2t files (and that do on the one computer where Windows Explorer displays
the files on the drive). But none of them has made Windows Explorer see the
disc or the files on the disc.
Please tell me what I'm not doing or doing wrong and/or what I need to do to
the registry or whatever to make the *.mts/m2ts files visible to Windows XP's
