Trying to encrypt some files. I right click on the file,
then go to properties, then to advanced.. At advanced it
does not give me the option to click on encrypt to secure
data.The box and words are faded. WHAT AM I DOING
WRONG?????

Hi Jim,

Are you using the NTFS file system? Encryption does not work with FAT32.

And please Jim do yourself a favor and read up on file encryption in XP's
help and support. You have to take precautions, including backing up a
security certificate, etc.
File encryption works very well, and if you don't take the necessary
precautions you could find youself never being able to access the encrypted
data again.

As others have said, you must be running NTFS as your file system.
Additionally, you need XP Pro. Home does not support file encryption.
