WAN miniport

I have just installed a firewall. Everytime I dial up to
my ISP, the firewall blocks an incoming ICMP and blocks
an outgoing UDP. My system continues to work fine and my
internet activities remain normal.

What is the significance of blocking ICMP's & UDP with
respect to the WAN miniport (IP)?
