I have a problem with burning CD-RW with the Mat****a CD-
RW CW-8121 in my laptop. At the end of the writting
process I consistently get the error message 'Cannot
complete the CD Writing Wizard. There was an error in the
writting process. The disk you have attempted to write
may no longer be useable'. Indeed the disk can be read or
erase and ends up in the bin. Using MS Support Knowledge
Base led me to check the IMAPI Service, to make sure it
was not disabled. It was configured as 'Manual' and was
not running. I can manually start this service ok.
However the service 'dies' if I try and fail to burn a
CD. If I configure IMAPI to Automatically start, it does
not automatically start. My question is : Is this normal
behaviour and is there any way to reinstall or repair
this service if this is not normal ?
My CD-RW worked fine previously. Only notable event at
time CD-RW failed is infection with W32/Sobig.m@mm email
worm, which was cleared by McAfee VirusScan. However
VirusScan itself seemed to have a problem, so I regressed
registry to a state before worm infection and reinstalled
the Virus Scanner.
I have already reinstalled my CD-RW driver and confirmed
there isn't a newer driver available. I am running XP
with SP1 installed.
