When starting my Dell laptop with Windows XP Home edition, I get an error
message box stating that support.exe has caused an error and asks if I want
to send a report to Microsoft. I have now disabled this message but I wonder
if this is an important error as the computer seems to function correctly.
Does anyone know the cause of this error?

A quick web search makes it appear that SUPPORT.EXE is a program that Dell
installed. It is not part of Windows. You'll need to contact Dell for
support on their installed software.
