I just completed wiping my computer and reinstalling
everything including all by backup files.
I updated to XPSP1 and followed thru with all
recommeded driver updates for my HP laptop.
Everything works smooth and Fast except when I went to
use standby mode it does nothing but blank the screen and
freeze up the keys. Same thing with hibernate. I have to
reboot the system completely to get back running.
Any Idea's??? Thanx Paul

Off the top of my head, do you have the keyboard authorized to bring
the system out of standby?
Control Panel \ Keyboard \ Hardware tab \ Properties \
Power Management

Hi! I have exactly the same problem as Paul, using a
brand new laptop HP NX9010. I tried Control Panel \
Keyboard \ Hardware tab \ Properties but there, I don't
have Power Management...
I saw in the event viewer the following message:
"A request to suspend power was denied by winlogon.exe."
Source: win32K
ID: 240
I would greatly appreciate if someone could help.
Thank you.
