Permissions on XP Home

I have a problem with my Shared Documents file. I cannot
get access to the files in it unless I share it to my
house network! Also because of this I am unable to delete
or modify any of the files in there. I think it is
something to do with the permissions but on the website
it only says how to change them for XP Pro. Anyone any
ideas?
