what is the difference between 'services' and 'startup'?
i do not know the meaning of the following items on
startup, and i want to know if i can disable them, and if
i can, can i start my system faster?
BCMSMMSG.EXE
ctfmon.exe
WksSb.exe
WkDetect.exe
Wkfud.exe

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=326526 will get rid of ctfmon.exe...the
rest I don't see on my box.

The files with the Wk prefix are Microsoft Works files.

Services are background processes that can run disconnected from the
local console. Services are usually system wide extensions that add
functionality to the OS. Startups are normal user applications that are
started automatically.
