password issue

Hi guys

I have a database application file on a Windows XP
machine. The file is password protected. When I open it up
in the morning it works fine. The application/file asks me
for the password and the group access rights are assigned
as designed. When I close the file (not the application)
and then re-open it there is no password check anymore.
anyone can access this file without restriction. This
happens only on the XP box. On other o/s the file performs
as it should. Additionally, when I close the application
and re-open again it with the file (double click from
desktop) the password protection works again

Have you heard of this behaviour on XP machines? Is this a
known issue?
