wksSb.exe, WkDetect and Wkfud are all related to works.
you can safely turn these off in msconfig by removing
their check mark in startup. Ctfmon is the alternative
input method in Office, once again safe to uncheck in
msconfig and turn it off. finally BCMSMMSG, i believe is
related to your broadcom dial up modem. If you use dial
up leave it running. If your modem just gathers dust,
kill it. As far as services and startup the differences
are both simple and complex. A service is something that
runs in the background w/o you knowing about it. where as
a startup is something that is sitting in your task tray
taking up system memory as it sits for you to run it.
