Conecting to Internet

I have an XP system, with 2 users, both administrators.
Just recently when I log on, it keeps wanting to connect
to the internet. I have tried everything to see what
program wants to connect, but cant seen to find out which
one it is, can XP help, or can anybody out there offer
assisstance. One thing I havnt tried, (maybe I should) is
to let it connect to the net and see what happens!!!
