View Full Version : My computor won't power down

my bios is APM "enabled" yet my power panel in control
panel does not show an APM tab
My system does not power down at exit of windows xp
I have my bios set to Nuber Lock on, when booting Number
Lock lights then turns off when Windows XP is loading
Any help would be great,

The APM tab is only visible if the system has an older version of power
management. Newer ACPI systems will have a Hibernate tab instead. If you
go to Device Manager, what is the wording under the Computer branch
(view by type enabled)? Should see something like "Advanced
Configuration and Power Interface PC." If you see "Standard Computer,"
then power management support wasn't installed.

Try to reinstall WinXP.
When setup text "Press F6 if you want .... ", press F5 and a new menu will
appear. Select the type of your computer. it will only display 2 types each
time. Scroll it down or up.
If you used PentiumIII or below, use Standard PC.
I chose Standard PC and it works.

Try to reinstall WinXP.
When setup text "Press F6 if you want .... ", press F5 and a new menu will
