I just installed WinXP Home (Clean Install) on my Dell
Dimension P3 Desktop...
Now, whenver I try to power on the computer, I get the
following message: "Invalid Boot Diskette..insert Boot
diskette in A:" (there are NO disks in the A: drive or
the D: drive)

The system will not proceed to boot into XP until I hit
Control/Alt/Delete...and then the startup is fairly
slow...(tapping esc,delete,alt,enter or anything else
just causes the error message to repeat...

Why is this happening and how can I fix it? It was
suggested that I create a boot disk...how is that done? I
am pretty new at this stuff, and I'm totally frustrated
and confused....can anybody help???

Hi Dennis,

The boot files are messed up. Boot the WinXP CD, load the recovery console.
run fixboot from the command prompt.

HOW TO: Install and Use the Recovery Console in Windows XP [Q307654]
