View Full Version : Installed XP on a new drive, got old drive working, cannot access old User Files

Here's what happened:

XP Home would not boot. Kept getting BSOD.

Got a new HD and installed a new copy of XP using my
original XP Home disc. Got authorization from Microsoft.

Slaved the original drive to the new one and can see all
data.

Tried to access Documents and Settings / User folder but
got this message:

F:\Documents and Settings\[user] is not accessible
Access is denied.

SO, please tell me: HOW do I get into that folder?! It
has all of my most important data.

This happened to me the same HOUR that I was going to
make a complete backup, so no wagging your fingers at me
about backups, okay? :)

Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.
