Task manager dissapears

I had the same problem and my system was infected with
W32.SPYBOT.Worm. Go to this site for instructions on how
to remove it.

I did and my problem disappeared. Part of the
instructions have you go to msconfig.exe to configure for
a "safe start". Msconfig.exe would not start on my
system. Deprss F8 when the system starts to boot and a
menu will pop up to allow you to select the safe mode.
