View Full Version : How can I change the startup music?

It's always the little things that annoy me. W7 has a checkbox to play
(or not) Windows startup music. But unlike the other sounds, there is no
way to select a different or custom startup sound, which I want to do. I
can't even find the media file the Windows uses! Can anybody help me?

A google search comes up with many suggestions. Here's one:

Thank you, but that only applies to earlier systems, like XP. The
Windows Startup Sound in Windows 7, unlike the other sounds, is not
selectable. You can only turn it on or off. I tried using the logon
sound, but that only works if I log off and then log back on, which I
don't do when I restart. I'm the only user and always logged on.

"Update" and "upgrade" are not synonyms.

There are many other suggestions out there. Do a search.

I did, and found this.
http://www.sevenforums.com/customization/22429-how-change-windows-7-startup-sound.html
but it may be more trouble than it's worth.

Dave, are you sure you're checking in the right place? I just changed my
Windows 7 logon sound Chris Farley's " Well LADEEFRICKINDA." As a matter of
fact, I can load any sound I like. Right click on on the sound icon in the
taskbar and select sounds. If you're talking about the jingle when the
Windows logo appears, disregard everything I just said. :-)

The logon sound and the startup sound are two different things. The
logon sound never plays for me because I'm the only user and always
logged on.

Yeah, just checked Sound settings in control panel and looks like they took
that out from the list you could manually change to play whatever for event.
Only a tick box for startup sounds depending on what theme you're using of
course unless you can manually set it by making a new theme or something
there instead.
