Firefox and UAC

I finally solved the problem with Windows 7 and FF. It's been driving me
nuts that every time I opened FF I would get a UAC warning and had to
confirm that it was OK to start Java.

I installed FF on our laptop and the warning did not occur, so then the
chore was to see what was different in the two installs. In the new
install on the laptop the only thing missing was an Add-on under the
"Extensions Tab named, "Java Quick Starter 1.0". I disabled that
extension on my desktop and FF now starts without a UAC warning.

re-downloaded and re-installed Firefox?"

That did nothing. The add-on was still there, maybe because I didn't
check to remove all personal settings and history. It was only when I
did the above that the problem was solved. If I had removed all personal
settings and history it may have solved the problem, but like I said, I
didn't do it that way.
