Rights and profiles

I'm wondering if there is any way to have a certain piece
of hardware, like a printer of CD-ROM enabled as
administrator but disabled under a user profile? We are
looking at locking down most of our workstations and I
just thought there might be a way around disabling various
drives and having to re-enable them when trying to install
new software.

Have you thought of setting up a group policy to not allow these?
