Is there a way to password protect the START button in
Windows XP Professional? I would welcome any suggestions.
Thank you.

....you mean so no one can use the Start button without entering a password?
No such thing. Are you trying to prevent someone from using your computer in
your absence? How about a password-protected screensaver.

If you want to prevent people from using on options on the start menu you
can remove the button choices from the start menu. as for asking for a
password when you click start menu i don't think that is possible
