WLM and Win8 Pro

I did a clean install of Win 8 Pro on a partition on C drive of my Win 7
laptop. I use Windows Live Mail on the Win 7 OS and want to know if I can
migrate WLM to the Windows 8 OS.If this can be done can someone explain how
or give me a source?

Here's the installer for Windows Live Mail version 14.

You can select which other programs you want to install.

Migrate by definition in WLM is pulling account settings and messages from another email client or earlier version email client
when installing a later version of WLM
- e.g. WLM will migrate accounts/messages from Outlook Express when installed on XP; migrate from Windows Mail when installed on
Vista; migrate from an earlier WLM when a later version WLM is installed. (note WLM will **not* migrate WLM content if installed
an earlier version after a later)
- since you installed W8 to clean partition, nothing existed on that partition to migrate

What you can do...is import.
- Import accounts as *.iaf files (after exporting each account as an iaf file to media accessible by the new drive)
- Import Contacts as *.csv or *.vcf files (after exporting to media accessible by the new drive)
- Import Messages (after exporting all folders or selective folders to a blank folder on media accessible by the new drive)

You can find direct links to the Microsoft servers to download all available versions of WLM (Windows Live Essentials 2009, 2011 or

If you are using Windows 8, highly consider 2012...since at some point in time in the foreseeable future 2012 will be a mandatory
upgrade on Vista, Win7, and Win8 to retain full functionality!!!! If using an earlier version for features not present in 2011 or
2012 proceed at your own risk.

Winston I now have WLM 2012 on dual boot of Win 7/8. All is good but on Win
7 I have a storage folder with info I would like to get to WIN 8 WLM if
possible.I even tried to print the contents but can't do.

On Win7..
Use WLM's option to export messages, choose the selective option and ensure you select only the Storage folders but nothing else..
(note ensure you verify prior to exporting that all Storage folders subfolders are selected)

Exporting messages must be exported to a blank folder (on hard drive or thumb drive and preferably a drive that can be accessed on
the Win8 system in your dual boot scenario). Good idea to create the folder in advance in Windows Explorer and leave that windows
open so you can see the folder, write down its name for later use in Win8 (do not export to a folder on the Win7 desktop or any of
the protected folders (program files, program data etc.)
Once the data is exported, switch to Win8 and using WLM 12 and import the messages.

Note: If all you have is a small quantity of messages you don't have to go through the export/import process (but doing so would
also ensure you have a current export backup of the Storage Folders contents) since messages can be dragged/dropped to any Windows
Explorer folder and then dragged into a Storage folder subfolder in WLM.
