I copied Windows XP Sound Recorder for when I just want an
instantaneous hearing of the sound. Associated WAV files with it. But
how do you set it to automatically play the wave file and then close?

In Windows XP, you just clicked on advanced file association
properties, that sort of thing. And you appended "/play /close".

I don't see any place to adjust that stuff. I suppose it's in the
registry.

Thanks.

I looked, I found.
Searched for "sndrec32" in the registry.
Changed the command.
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\sndrec32.exe" "%1" /play /close

Thanks to any answers that might already be in the queue.

For future reference, you might look into File Types Manager, although
I've never tried it with Windows 8. I have used it in Windows 7 to set
the default operation and any number of alternate operations for a given
file type or extension.
