I don't run XP I was here doing a search for a friend. At
start up all OS will check the floppy drive to see if a
startup boot disk is inserted, a normal occurance.

This is well after startup and bootup. This happens after XP has loaded and
after the desktop has come up on my machine, even after the Start Windows
sound has played.
