I recently intercepted a "land attack" today on my machine. I am using
mcafee firewall. I was wondering if it is possible to expose the person
that tried to attack my machine. Would it require another firewall program,
or is there a way to find out within windows itself? Any help or insight
into this matter would be apreciated.
Thank You,
Joe Maloney

Hi Joe,
The quick & easy way, is to download WhoIs from Karen Kenworthy's site.
It's a freebie, all you need to do is enter either the IP address, or the
domain name of the intruder into the search field , and you will be
presented with full details of your unwelcome visitor

All you would be able to obtain is the IP address which made the
connection. Most ISPs will not reveal the owner of the IP address
except under court order. If the IP address is permanently assigned
to a host, then WHOIS would tell you that but it still would not
tell you who was at the keyboard.
Your best course of action would be to report the activity to the
issuer of the IP address. The WHOIS report usually has a contact
for abuse reporting.
