Are you talking about those messenger pop ups?

Either enable your firewall, which stopped them for me,
or do the following:

Go to CONTROL PANEL.
Go to ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS.
Go to SERVICES.
Find MESSENGER.
Right Click MESSENGER and click PROPERTIES.
Find STATUS TYPE, and select DISABLED.
Click APLLY and/Or OK.

Ta da :) I hope that helped. PLEASE note: this does not
disable MSN messenger. If you are on a PC network, you'll
not be able to get messages from your administrator -
this is netsend, I believe. But don't quote me on that.

Have a nice day,
Stacey

Please, stick with enabling the firewall. Disabling the messenger service
does nothing but hide the fact that you have NetBIOS and RPC ports
accessible from the Internet. You should close down external access to
ports that should remain internal. Do not suggest a "fix" that merely hides
the most visible sign of a security problem.

Alun.
