XP Pro client joins Win2K domain faster than Win2K Pro client

Any thoughts on why a Win XP Pro client joins a domain
faster than a Win 2000 Pro client? The only difference is
the client software (ie Win XP Pro vs Win 2000 Pro SP2)
everything else is similar (hardware, network).

Since one of Microsoft's marketing claims for WinXP was that it's
faster than Win2K, why do you find this surprising and troubling?
Sounds like it's behaving as designed.

Yes, but why is it faster? Does it use Kerberos or NTLM,
what is the process that XP uses to join the domain?
