My wallpaper does not fill the whole screen.

About an inch of the left side shows up on the right side.

I think I have the resolution set correctly.

Can someone help ?

Thanks,
Andy

Figure out the "native resolution" of the screen.

Check the Display control panel, and the resolution setting.

Then, using a photo editor or photo tool, "scale"
the picture you want to use as a background, as you
see fit.

If you scale it just for the purpose of filling the
screen, the aspect ratio will be wrong. Tall people might
be short, or short people could be tall. Circles might
end up with an elliptical shape.

If you keep the X and Y axis scale factors the same,
the scaled picture may need to be "cropped". Look for
a selection rectangle followed by a "crop", to snip
the best looking part of the image.

When you're finished these steps, the picture should
then match the native resolution of the screen. And
not need Windows to "tile" the background the way it has.

Or as Nil would say, "Irfanview".

I use GIMP for scaling and cropping, but that's a
personal preference. The older versions of GIMP are a bit
easier to understand.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIMP

I use GIMP version 2.4.7, because I'm an old fart,
and "you kids, get off my lawn".

Note that, Sourceforge has taken to adding adware
to the downloads.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-win/files/GIMP%20+%20GTK+%20(stable%20release)/GIMP%202.4.7%20+%20GTK+%202.12.11/

I checked the "gimp-2.4.7-i686-setup.exe" file, and
it's safe. No adware.

File size = 14,869,048 bytes
MD5sum of current file = 835eaa5a95b39f880f57b0783db2aedd
SHA1sum of current file = 72c792d13130a44f7baf08f95da708a041be9853

The copy of "gimp-2.4.7-i686-setup.exe" I have from
January 15, 2009 is the same, and has the same checksums.

If you need a checksum utility, you can get that from Microsoft
as the fciv program.

http://download.microsoft.com/download/c/f/4/cf454ae0-a4bb-4123-8333-a1b6737712f7/Windows-KB841290-x86-ENU.exe

Then run

fciv -both gimp-2.4.7-i686-setup.exe

to view the checksums.

Or, you could go to the Control Panel, select Display. On the Desktop
tab, pick Stretch listed in the Position field. :-)

Right-click on a blank spot of the desktop, select "Properties", "Desktop" and in the "Position"
box, select "Center" or "Stretch". Then click "OK".
