I'm fed up with Kaspersky. I've had bad luck with Norton uears ago -
worse than a virus, so that's out too.

Kaspersky's Safe Money 'feature' to protect from supplying someone
questionable with personal info seems to trigger now on all sites -
including UPS's tracking site. It gives two choices - continue or use
protected version of connection. Neither works nor closing the Safe Money
window. I can't get past it. Therefore, I can't seem to buy anthing on
line, have to telephone instead.

Tried to join the Kaspersky private User Forum to try to find out how to
turn off Safe Money. Can't log into that forum - doesn't recognize the
user name I just registered with. Finally got it working but can't figure
out how to change long assigned password.

Very frustrating - and these are just a few outstanding problems.

Suggestions? Or use no anti-virus?

TIA

Try COMODO. I use it on Windows XP and variants of Linux.
Occasionally it encounters errors during program updates but otherwise it has proven mainly
reliable.

Nope! Doesn't mean it can't happen (yet).

If you would read my message, it talks about Kaspersky problems, not being
"a magnet for all sorts of malware".

When I had a Kaspersky subscription, I tried to use the online chat
they had available at the time. And did not receive competent help.

In my case, Kaspersky was flagging use of the system random
number generator. This is normally used for things like
cryptography algorithms, when they need something with
entropy and randomness. Every program I started on the
computer (even Notepad), was visited by eight dialog
boxes from Kaspersky that had to be dismissed. The guy
on the chat thought this was wonderful, and nothing
that he needed to help with. I couldn't imagine why
Notepad would make such calls, the machine wasn't infected,
but still, I would get my standard eight warning dialog
boxes, as if what the thing was seeing was important.
It wasn't even a message that it needed to quarantine
something - more like a dialog that "Kaspersky waves Hello".

It's a shame really, as otherwise, I think the functional
part of it works well. It was able to remove the one and
only malware I've ever had on a PC here.
