View Full Version : XP not shutting down -- Direct X?

I just downloaded some patches from Windows Update and
suddenly my computer has stopped shutting down. I can
click on shut down on the start menu - the screen
flickers and then nothing happens. I found that if I go
into Task Manager and manually shut down a process called
directx.exe (I'm assuming its Direct X 9.0b, as that's
what I just upgraded to) then I've got no problem and can
shut down without issue. Still, it seems odd...any
suggestions?
