Hi,
Recall that MS has removed support for WinXP, no more OS updates. I have
always kept auto update, which sometimes downloads a Malicious Software
Removal Tool. I stopped using Microsoft Update because I had everything
available. I decided to use it again. 1.) You need to keep IE8. 2.) It
installed a new ActiveX, the old one no longer worked. 3.) When I chose
"Custom Install', it offered 50+ security fixes, and some new tools,
Silverlight, Live Essentials and Security Essentials. When it came to
install, Live Essentials would not, because of license restrictions. I had
stopped using Security Essentials because stopped loading update
definitions,"End of WinXP Support", I have two other Win10 machines on my
network so it was easy to scan WinXP over the network. Security Essentials
is still downloading, it says it is downloading the latest definitions.
If this news is widely known, please forgive my intrusion.
