If I don't die in 2015 or 2016, If I'm not arrested between, If I don't get
ill, If I have a home with electricity and Internet, If I have the money,
I'll buy Windows 10 for sure. One, because I like new start menu. Two,
because I think Internet works better with Internet Explorer 12. Three,
because I want and need.

IMHO:

I'm holding onto my win8.1 until ... well as long as I can. I still can't stand those huge tiles they put on the
Windows 10 desktop menu. If it's a desktop menu for mousers, then make them smaller and reduce the clutter. If you
want a fat finger menu then make the tiles, fine!

I have the best of both worlds in windows 8.1 Logo key jumps back and forth, and a quick free 3rd party start menu
fixes the MS botched job of programming.

I fear the same I read somewhere that MS wants to make windows 10/11 into a yearly paid product like Office. If that
holds true some day in the future, I don't want my world hooked to a yearly paid product. I'll stay on 8 for security
in that or migrate to Linux. I dual boot linux and I could if all else fails move there when windows 8 becomes outdated.

This was the plan when Ballmer was running the show.

There is a new guy in town, and the new guy now has
to scramble, to keep his market share.

I haven't seen any "leaked" announcements, indicating
what direction they will go in.

Presumably, Microsoft learned something from their
Office release, as to how well this works. We're not
Adobe users, gaining access to thousands of dollars
worth of software, for a monthly fee. It's an OS
worth $40 to $150, depending on how you price it.
Will I get rich, sending out monthly bills for $6 ?
The Post Office will do well from all the stamps used...

Windows 10 will be free.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/01/21/us-microsoft-windows-idUSKBN0KU28320150121

And read the fine print later in the article:
Windows 10, expected on the market this autumn, will be available for one year as a free upgrade to users of Windows 7,
Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1, Myerson said.
