Wondering how one achieves this.

In Windows 8, you can set the power up/down to perform without
'special' hybernation. (After time, the OS seem to need clean undies).

Is this an option in Windows 10? It seems to be absent, yet I think
hybrid hypernation is 'set' - as the boot/reboot time is pretty quick -
as in, too quick to be true.

???

CAP from a January post:

"It does, and you can turn it off the same way as in Win8/8.1.

Go to Control Panel . . . Power Options. Click on "Choose what the power
buttons do." Click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" near
the top of the page, then uncheck "Turn on fast startup (recommended)"
under the Shutdown settings. Save Changes and that's it.

I have fast startup disabled on both my Win8.1 and Win10 setups (separate
HDD in the same machine) and see hardly any difference in boot-up times as
opposed to when it is enabled."

Ah it's been moved into there. Found it, finally, cheers.

Actually, re-reading that, no I don't have that option. If I click on
"change settings that are currently available", all I get is a "lock"
checkbox at the bottom.

In Win8, I'd see the turn off fast startup - but not on my Win 10.

I do on mine. That's where I turned it off. I did that on the first build
and it would be reinstated with each new one, so I'd turn it off again. I
forgot until I read your post that I had just installed the latest build and
hadn't turned it off. I actually had to go back to the post I copied to
remember how, and it was still the same as the earlier builds, and in Win
8/8.1. Did you click on the "Change settings that are currently unavailable"
line? You may need to be admin; not sure about that since I am.

Aren't we all Admins in the Tech Preview by default install? I am.
There's surely no 'run as admin' required for power settings - any
elevation would be notified - and I'd have accepted it.
I just don't have that setting. Happy to post a SS.

I have WP 10 build 10041 installed in VMware and the only options avail
are: *Sleep* and *Lock*

I would think so. I believe you- just telling you how I did it. Here's what
mine looks like:

Maybe you could use the "powercfg" utility to get more info ?

http://www.hanselman.com/blog/PowerCfgTheHiddenEnergyAndBatteryToolForWindowsYou reNotUsing.aspx

It's pretty hard to tell what it's good for, from the help page.

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh824902.aspx

The features might also vary as a function of the Power Schema
selected in the Power control panel. Or, the list of supported
options could change if you'd done a "powercfg -h off" at
some point, which turns off Hibernate and Fast Start. As it
prevents usage of a hibernate state, and is good for
multi-boot users (like me).

On my VM (KVM), I do not even have those options. That is
because my fake hardware does not include the stuff
necessary for the guest to do power management. This
is normal.
