Is it upgrading in the background?

I'm with build 9926. Can't see any button to download new build. Just the option
to do it slow or fast. Does it download automatically?

If you're impatient, get 10041 from here,
and do an Upgrade install from within Win10 ?

With the ISO mounted, try executing Setup.exe and see what happens.
The result should be an Upgrade install.

When done (and you're happy with it), use Disk Cleanup to
delete Windows.old. This reduces unnecessary scanning by
Windows Defender.

And if you're afraid of what might happen, do a backup
before running the Upgrade.

I'm using virtual machine. I was only controlling the free space on c:\ drive.
It was decreasing. Then I decided to take a walk outside and when I came back,
the free space went up. So I did shut down. After a coffee, turned it on again
and there was a message about take ownership which I canceled. Now I don't see
any change on c:\ drive free space. I don't know if it is upgrading.

I started my Win10 virtual machine up last night and it appeared to be
hung - the mouse was movable, but nothing I clicked on would react, and
I gave it plenty of time. But the network activity indicator was
blinking like crazy. Still, it seemed like something wasn't right, so I
closed the session down and re-started it. This time the VM acted more
like normal. I went to Updates and it indicated that the new build was
available and started downloading it (no choice on my part.) I let it
run all night and it's installed today. It must have taken several
hours.
