View Full Version : Upgrade or not, tv-out query?

I have a number of pcs here meet upgrade specs and when allowed show the
Get Windows 10 icon.

I'm thinking of allowing one of them to upgrade and see what happens.

BUT ...

The pc in question is running Win7 and is used almost exclusively as a
multi-media player hooked to both a tv and stereo. It's an older analog
tv and the video card (nVidia 6800) provides the video out thru an SVGA
socket (no HDMI here).

I figure almost everything else would be ok but it's always a hassle
getting tv-out to work (even driver updates sometimes) and I'm afraid
Windows 10 might make it impossible given I don't trust MS to not turn
off that feature to limit being able to copy videos, e.g. I can easily
run Netflix and have it full display on a monitor that's really a tv and
from there use the tv's video-out to record the video on the attached
hardware dvd recorder (along with the stuttering :).

Anyone using tv-out previously and have upgraded to Win10? If so, how'd
it go for you?

And as a second question. Did they do something new regarding
controlling the sound card or does one have to start again fresh
figuring out how to control what to record from, what to playback on,
what midi device to use etc. etc. and how to access the various dialog
boxes.
