View Full Version : Screensaver and Multimedia events

On my Win7 PC, if I'm streaming a movie or sporting event (like through
Watch ESPN), or watching a video in WMP, my screensaver does not kick in
until I have stopped watching. On my Win10 (and previously on Win8.1) PC,
the screensaver kicks in when it's supposed to. Seems to me, a long time
ago, there was a setting to prevent this from happening, that while there
was streaming going on, the screensaver was temporarily disabled. Try as I
might, I cannot seem to find that setting anywhere. Am I mistaken on this,
or am I just missing it?

TIA!!

My WinTV switches off the screensaver automatically with a settings switch.
WindowsMediaCentre doesn't include one (at least I haven't found it).
So I use a taskbar shortcut.

Oh, I forgot to say that it should work for WMP too.

This looks better.

You download a little utility called flipss.exe. And then create two
shortcuts; one for on, one for off.
I'd name them "ss-off" & "ss-on"; and put them in a quick launch menu.

All good suggestions, but I can turn it off almost as easy by typing
'screensaver' in the search box :-)

Well, for some odd reason, WMP is working as it should (no SS while a video
is playing), and streaming video is, too. It was really starting to tick me
off, but now it's fine. WTF?!? I'm starting to think I'm just imagining
these things. Maybe I'll ask my doctor for a dementia/Alzheimer's test :-(
If I have doctor. . . have I made an appointment? . . . If so, with who? . .
.. do I have a doctor?
