View Full Version : Weird automatic shutdown

Okay, I didn't know XP Pro was capable of this weird
problem, but since last night this is what happens.

I get online (I juse United Online's Juno web service)
and after about two minutes, a window opens up saying
that because of a system recovery something (I believe)
that Windows XP is going to shut down in 60 seconds. It
then counts down, and shuts off by itself.

This has never happened before, and I've had XP Pro for
about eight months. Normally it's rock solid, but now
every time I connect to the internet, after a minute or
two this automatic shutdown window comes up, and my PC
shuts down 60 seconds later.

Any clues?

Last, but not least, consider purchasing and installing a good
internet security package, such as:

Norton Internet Security 2003

-- Includes Norton AntiVirus 2003
-- Includes Norton Personal Firewall
-- Includes prevention of annoying web pop-ups
-- Includes Parental Controls
-- All in one, easy-to-install & manage package
