XP download speed

I have XP Professional and XP Home on separate
computers. Both have external modems that set to 115.2.
Downloading on the Home version goes quite well.
Downloading on Professional has frequent and often long
pauses -- to the point of timing out at 1 hour at times.
As best I can tell both computers are set the same re
networking, modem, etc. Reloading the communications
components has not helped.

I also have ME on both computers using System Commander.
Both MEs download just fine. The Professional computer
also has 98SE and 2000 both of which download just fine.
So I've assumed the problem is in the Professional
program but have not been able to determine what.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion. Both computers, in either XP
or ME, show about the same low rate of download -- around
37 - 38. Since I'm "out in the country" on a standard
phone line, this is about what I'd expect. No indication
of what may be causing the substantial difference in XP
Professional/Home downloads.
