BlankWhen I was examining the System Event Log on an XP Pro computer, I
noticed Error Messages
from the W32Time Service about not being able to find a time server. From
what I have been able
to find out, a time server is needed for Kerberos authentication. Since this
is a stand-alone machine,
can I safely stop the Windows Time Service (W32Time). If I can't --- I've
noticed that there are parameters
associated with this service, in two different spots in the registry. One
spot can be changed by using gpedit.msc,
the other looks like you have to use regedit. What I have been unable to
find is documentation on what the
parameters mean and the values that are valid. If you have any ideas about
where I can get information
on this service and how to get it to quit putting error messages in the
System Event Log when they don't
mean anything for the situation that I am in ---- I would appreciate it.
