As the subject states, I am having a problem getting into
Recovery mode via my install CD.
I uninstalled some backup software and only get the Blue
Screen of Death. The system will not come up in any mode
available, so I went to the Install/Recovery CD.
Tne System only has one User on it (me!), however, it has
a password. I can get to Recovery Mode on the CD, however
my normal logon password is not being accepted as the
Administrator Password to use Recovery. I never
established a separate Administrator Password. This
leaves me unable to use Recovery to get the System back.
Any insight would be much appreciated! I'm using my prior
(old) Win ME system to send this and it's not a
pleasurable experience...
TIA!

Hi and Thanks!
After posting my original message, I started searching for
similar situations. I found the article you mentioned and
also 307654, which has information using the Recovery
Console. Since my CD was pre-Servicepack-1, I had to
download the Startup Boot Disk Maker. The disks allowed
me to get into Recovery Console without a hitch.
Then I ran chkkdsk /r and found the drive had errors but
they were recovered/fixed.
However, that didn't fix my problem. No getting past the
Blue Screen of Death. So now I'm off Searching for
information on Windows Repair, if such a thing exists.
After more years in the computer field than I care to
mention, I'm finally stumped!

How do I do a repair installation?
Do a site search and you'll find it.
Good luck.
There's a start.
