I can't do a system restore on hp 552x to an earlier point. There is points
available, but everytime I try to do it, the system goes through all the
steps, but when it re-boots, it says "Could not do a system restore. There
were no changes made to your system." And then it tells me how I can do a
system restore, but when I do, I gt the same message. I can do a hp system
recovery, but then I have to reload everything. Any ideas on how I can do
the microsoft system restore (to an earlier point) without having to load
all my programs back and setting entire thing up again?
THanks

If System Restore says it can't restore your system, believe it. There are
various conditions that can render old restore points unusable. Even if you
could force a restore under these circumstances, the results would not be
good. Not what you wanted to hear but if I was up against the same thing, I
would try a repair install. If no luck, then start getting ready for full
reinstall.

I believe HP offers a "non-destructive recovery" and am under the
impression that this is similar to the "repair install" offered by the
standard XP CD. Check your system documentation for more details.
