The replies were very helpful.
Here is the information from one of the reboots:
The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during
its internal processing. HRESULT was 800706BA from line
44 of d:\nt\com\com1x\src\events\tier1
\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact Microsoft Product
Support Services to report this error.
Any ideas?

As soon as you can! You are running the 32-bit version
Also enable Windows XP's built in firewall:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;283673
Then go to WindowsUpdate to pick up the latest updates:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

So have I already been hit by this worm??
Would it place a file that I can't delete called Menu (2)
in "my pictures"? Or is that another problem??

It would drop a file named msblast into system32. Not sure what's up with
your My Pictures folder
