Either you have a security update (which you can remove
in a single user environment), or you can use the XPSP1a,
the lite version. It does not download the JAVA virtual
machine (MS said it was getting rid of this in a few
years anyways. Don't tell Sun...)

The SP1a can be installed from your CDROM. Download the
update and run it from a cdrom?
