View Full Version : XP Home security features

I recently had access violation problems with Office 2000
running on my laptop with XP Home installed. Microsoft
support ultimately determined that I had a corrupt user
profile (the default profile that came on the Compaq
Presario 1500). I corrected the problem using the user
profile transer wizard, creating another administrator
profile. I also updated my OS and Office with the latest
service packs and other releases.

Since then, I have been unable to print to a network
printer connected directly to my P2P lan, even though I
can ping the device. It has been suggested that my
security settings are not properly set, but I can't seem
to locate any security settings. For example, I cannot
find the firewall tab in my network connections
properties dialog box, nor can I locate my local security
policy. It appears that my security features are hidden
to me, even though my user profile is an administrative
profile.

Please help me. Thank you in advance.
