Is there a way to activate my screen saver when I want to
leave my computer instead of waiting for it to time out to
activate?

If you use the office shortcut bar, there is a button on that to activate
your screensaver.
Right click on the shortcut bar >>> customise>>> buttons>>> check the
screensaver button
