I am logged on as a user of a friend's computer running XP Pro. Trying =
to reconfigure my power scheme in the Power Options Properties, I get =
"Access is denied". =20

The administrators power scheme is different from my one, and moreover =
the one I would like to use, but how does the administrator set the =
power scheme for a user?. And if he can't, how can a user's power =
scheme be changed if the user is not permitted to change it? =20

Isn't there some way a user can temporarily 'borrow' admin rights if he =
knows the admin username/password while still logged on to his own =
settings?

Use the 'run as' command.

Thanks Tom; how simple. I had tried built-in help every which way, but =
like chicken & egg conundrum, you have to know to type in 'run as' to =
get info on 'run as'...

type this in the run line

C:\WINDOWS\system32

look for this control panel object = powercfg.cpl
then right click this file and you will see run as..
there you can make a temporary log on and use any account
that has administrative rights.

good luck.
