how do get rid of my old operating system and all it's
files now i'm running xp?

Hi Wayne,
Did you upgrade or create a dual boot?
If a dual boot, open Windows Explorer and delete the old system files. Then
start/run C:\boot.ini and remove the reference to the old system in the
[operating systems] section.
If you upgraded, there is an option to remove the backup files under Add &
Remove in the Control Panel.
