>Amen! Todd, I don't have an answer but I want to add my
two pennies worth in support of your email. The following
website claims this:(see http://www.endads.com/)Have you
been hit with unwanted advertising or Spam? The message
you received is the newest form of internet spam. You
don't have to have an email account or even a web browser.
You received this message due to a built in feature that
Microsoft included in Windows XP, 2000, and NT.
I'm receiving on average 10-15 pop ups an hour that I have
no choice but to "x" to get my screen back! This is
ridiculous and there out to be a "upgrade" available to
disable this program!

Ok - I've had XP for close to a year now and never had this pop-up problem
until TODAY!!
I have three computers sharing a DSL line through the Linksys wireless
WRT54g router
The pop-ups only appear on the main computer where I have my linksys router
software set up
The only thing I changed on this computer was an update to the firmware on
my Linksys router.
I noticed that as I was installing the update this morning, I received three
pop-up ads - NOT the generic one from endads.com - that showed up an hour or
so later.
I run Norton Antivrus 2003 all the time - I also ran Ad-Aware - both found
nothing.
I stopped using Zone Alarm Pro a few months ago - because I'm using the
router as the firewall.
Yes I know - just run Zone Alarm all the time - Well then why didn't these
ads show up before when I was not using Zone Alarm?
And yes - I started using zone alarm again - so far so good - no pop-ups
Also, the person I spoke with from LinkSys -made me change a couple
settings - i have no idea what's correct - A
call back did not assure that I had the corect settings on my router.
My DMZ mode is set to "Disable" - is this correct?
My Block Wan Request is also set to "Disable - Is this Correct?
Thanks

John,
if you are receiving Messenger pop-ups then you are not protected by
Linksys...
