I recently had to reformat and reload XP Pro. After
restoring my data from backup (using Stomp's backup
program) all my data is read only and I cannot change the
attributes. Any suggestions? I searched the knowledge
base but couldn't find anything that addresses this.

How have you tried to change the attributes? Usually right-clicking
and selecting properties works fine. You can use ctrl-a to do all at a
time by removing the hidden attribution from one.

This may seem like a silly thing of me to ask, but;
Have you *tried* writing to the files,
i.e. ignore the fact of the file haveing it's R attr. set.

I suspect that if you can do as above, once file has been written to, the
R-attr. will dissapear or become removeable.

Change the attributes for the files (not the folders). TIP: You can right
click on a group of selected files, select Properties and uncheck the Read
Only box. This will change the attribute bit for the entire group.
